A while back I had created a rogue character, SynKat the Cunning, and was leveling with Mia's alt (lione on forums here). I had transfered him some gear, a few short swords and a chest piece. I leveled with Lione to around ogreton and then we had logged off. Today I get back on that character to find that I am level 4 again as if I had just left the noobie castle and I don't have any of the gear I had handed my character. It seems like all of my progress was lost on that character as well as the items I had traded him. I thought it might have been due to the storms causing the server to go down (even though this was a decent time before that) and checked my other characters for the gear to no avail. Is there any idea what could have happened or if anything could be done to fix this?

This does generally occur when the server drops suddenly. Unfortunately there isn't anything that can be done. Recommended procedure is to log out every few levels which will save the toon. This happened the other day to me and I lost two high levels and I lost a cloak.
This is why I also log out myself or crash in my case. Just after a gear transfer. The server does not have an active means to save unless its on logout or enter. Normally we don't disclose things like this but its a known issue that players have dealt with for RDs many years. This is why we boot before a reset since this would happen to anyone that stays.
Tarnos and Nico probably forgot that or do it reflexively.

I had logged off and on that character a few times between the point I seem to be reverted to and where I ended off at to help get gear for Lione's character to him as well though. I don't understand how just that one character was effected when I had also logged off properly after I was finished playing.

Since you did both- seems like this would have to be anomaly that not amount of coding would change As fair warning, server crashes do occur and most times, nothing is lost however, as mentioned above, you can rest AND even SAVE to ensure that anything that might be lost, is mitigated.

How about a "delete toon" thread? I have some that can be deleted.

Delete's are a tricky thing. We could delete the toon in the vault, but they would still exist in the database. I have a good understanding of DB control, but not so sure I can control this DB (if you know what I mean). I might miss a key or something. In any event, if I leave the DB alone, and just delete your toon from the vault, there is a VERY good chance that if you recreate him/her (using the same name), you keep all your local variables (e.g. morph status, gold amounts, journal entries, quests).
Thoughts.....?

I placed a thread " Character Deletion Requests" under "Bugs, Problems, Questions" where the names of toons that I would like deleted. I can understand the problems dealing with the DB. I wou7ld still like to have some way to delete unwanted toons.
